In June 1994, a rogue storm hit the South Pacific ocean, causing terror, destruction and tragedy. Forty vessels and aircraft became involved, either as rescuers or those requiring rescue; twenty-one people were plucked from the raging seas, a family of three were lost. This is the video of the tragedy and tells the story of the drama as it unfolds - the Metservice, Kerikeri Radio, Search and Rescue headquarters, the various rescue vessels and planes; and the people on the yachts, terrified, alone, reliant on the help of others many miles away. This is ninety minutes of emotion-charged drama featuring the endurance of those who survived and the heroism of those on land, in the air, and at sea, acts that were later deservedly awarded.
