NZ Multihull Yacht Club Open Day
NZ Multihull Yacht Club – February 17, 2008 – Viaduct Harbour, Auckland
Once again this February multihulls will dominate the Viaduct Harbour to showcase just what these fantastic yachts and powerboats are all about. The event is expected to attract well over a thousand visitors and with free entry, sausage sizzle and perhaps even an opportunity to get a ride on one of the smaller race cats – this really will be a fun filled family day out. On the water there will be anything from 15-20 boats – representing racing catamarans and trimarans to cruising power and sail cats, while off the water a number of designers and builders from Australasia will be on show to answer any questions you may have regarding all aspects of owning a multihull. This year the club will be showing some of the 8.5 class race boats so that you will be able to see just how easy it is to get into this race fleet. Already 8 are confirmed for the BMW Race week. In addition the top three in this class in last year’s Coastal Classic, Need for Speed (Farrier 8.2 trimaran), Dirty Deeds (Bob Fischer 8.5) and the modified Great Barrier Express cat, Hooters should all be there for viewing. Gates will be open from 9am – 4pm, Sausage Sizzle will running from 10am so bring your whole family and remember if you board any boat please respect the owners wishes of no shoes on board. If you are part of an organisation interested in displaying at this event or have a multihull you would like to show please contact Anthony McBride on 021 521 013.
